Extraordinary Ministers of Communion is an organization of lay or religious people who are prepared spiritually, theologically, and practically to assist the ordinary ministers, who are bishops, priests, or deacons in distributing Holy Communion at Mass. The role of the EMHC is to supplement the ordinary minister’s role it does not replace it.
